About the Award
Established in 2017, the National Design Award is Latvia’s highest recognition in the field of design. It honours excellence in five categories: product design, service design, communication design, digital solutions, and environmental design, and is guided by the principles of the New European Bauhaus: beauty, sustainability, and inclusion.
This year, the Moon Chair was named a finalist on 3 June among many outstanding submissions. The following day, our team presented it to the international jury – André Poulheim (Germany), Maarja Mäemets (Estonia), Julius Seniūnas (Lithuania), Maija Rozenfelde (Latvia), Reinis Leo Miķelsons (Latvia), and Baiba Lindāne (Latvia) – respected voices in product design, architecture, and design curation. On 5 June, at the awards ceremony, the Moon Chair was officially announced as the winner in the Product Design category.
The event took place in a concert venue in the quiet centre of Riga, bringing together all the finalists, jury members, and people from across the Latvian design world. In the photos below, you’ll see our product designer Mark Litvyakov, the creative mind behind the Moon Chair, along with members of our marketing and sales team who joined to celebrate this milestone.
