Wigiwama Goes to Art Spaces: Beanbags Meet Copenhagen Contemporary

What happens when softness and comfort collide with wild imagination? You get an art exhibition filled with papier-mâché bats, oversized moths, and monstrous creatures staring back at you, all while Wigiwama beanbags and ottomans invite you to sink deeper into the surreal world around you.

That's right, Wigiwama has officially entered the art world. Our signature pieces are now part of "A Feather in Your Hat!", a fantastical exhibition by the world-renowned British artist Monster Chetwynd, now open at Copenhagen Contemporary.

From Kids’ Rooms to Art Installations

At Wigiwama, we've always stood for more than just children’s furniture. We believe in cultivating good taste from an early age, fostering creativity and designing beautiful, functional spaces where children and adults can feel inspired and at ease. So, when the opportunity came to bring our vision of thoughtful, timeless design into the realm of contemporary art, we jumped in without hesitation.

Comfort and Design Inside Monster Chetwynd’s Exhibition

A total of 60 Wigiwama Corduroy Beanbag Chairs and Square Ottomans in complementary Toffee and Blueberry Blue shades, have found a new home in an 800-square-metre exhibition space. The installation, brought to life by recycled creatures, oversized moths, and DIY theatrical flair, belongs to the surreal world of Monster Chetwynd – part workshop, part gallery, and a full celebration of wild creativity.

Designed to invite participation, transformation, and play, the exhibition also offers visitors a moment to dwell within the experience. Wigiwama’s beanbags and ottomans provide a tactile way to engage – a place to sink in, observe, and take in the atmosphere through comfort and presence.

"Good design is at home wherever imagination lives."

This collaboration is proof that good design is at home wherever imagination lives. Whether it's in a playroom, a living room, or an experimental art space.

We’re proud to be part of a project that celebrates creativity and to see our pieces helping turn a gallery into a space for play and exploration. Wigiwama goes to art spaces and we’re just getting started.

Catch “A Feather in Your Hat!” at Copenhagen Contemporary from April 13, 2025, to March 1, 2026, and keep an eye out for a cosy space filled with familiar aesthetics.
